The ITIL Foundation course is a formal three day training workshop based on the ITIL best practice Service Management framework and is designed for GÉANT staff of all levels who are involved in the management and delivery of IT services.
Our primary focus will be on developing a greater understanding of ITIL best practice to support the Service Management activities within GÉANT, and to enable staff to work together in effectively applying the principles. This course will be delivered as an intensive, highly interactive workshop consisting of formal presentations, discussions, exercises, and practice examination questions.
On completion of the course participants will appreciate the need for Service Management, understand the core ITIL principles, the dependencies between the various ITIL components, and the key processes and disciplines that are essential in ensuring the delivery of high quality services within GÉANT.
To reinforce the training material we will always work with real examples from within GÉANT to ensure the training is relevant to the specific organisational context, and that key messages are targeted appropriately for the respective participants.
The ITIL Foundation course fully prepares participants for the certified ISEB Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management, and on the last afternoon of the course a formal invigilated ITIL examination can be booked to take place onsite at DANTE in Cambridge. The exam itself is optional, and will be charged separately outside the GN3plus project.
